The intended new Greater Lincolnshire Combined County Authority (GLCCA) will have the powers to decide how to spend money locally to improve economic, social and environmental wellbeing of the people who live and work in our area.
British Steel – On 8th May 2025 British Steel announced that it plans to start recruiting for over 180 new employees to help drive the business forward following the recent tensions with Jingye Group and the Government. Following the UK Government taking control of British Steel’s Scunthorpe plant to prevent its closure by way of passing the Steel Industry (Special Measures) Act 2025 on 12th April 2025, the bill received Royal Assent from King Charles allowing the Government to take control of the company and keep the plant running until a longer term solution is found. Jingye announced that it was losing £700,000 a day and were considering closing the plant.
